Asia Argento is an Italian actress and filmmaker who was born into an extended family that included both. She's taken on these two professions herself. In 1985 she debuted in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. The film featured her in a lead role in the film as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo which was released in the year 1988. The actress has produced three films with her father, Trauma, The Stendhal syndrome, and Phantom of Opera. The Phantom of the Opera is a film that was created together with her late father, is the third of three films she's acted in. The other two were Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni used her absorbed and intense acting style in the film Condannato a Nozze. Patrice Chereau was the director. Queen Margot for which she played a crucial part. The collaboration she had alongside Michel Piccoli, in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion won her yet another David di Donatello award and Grolla di Oro. Asia started directing short films in the year 1994. The two she directed were Prospettive in 1996. She directed a documentary about her father; and Abel/Asia in 1998, about the famous film director Abel Ferrara. This latter was recognized at the Rome Film Festival. Asia's debut feature film was Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999, where she also was the lead actor and wrote the screenplay. In May 2000, the movie was released both in Italy and around the globe. It was also released in Brooklyn, New York it was awarded an award at the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After directing several music videos she had Anna Lou. The year 2002 saw Asia in The Red Siren with Jean Marc Barr, and Rob Cohen's Action-Thrille, directed by Vin Diesel. Asia has also written a few short stories that have been published by many magazines.
